Just trying to be patient!

There are still a few things left to be done, both inside and out, but things are really coming together now. Now that it is looking more "done", I am finding it harder to be patient. We still need carpet and the hardwood floors still have to be stained. There's a little bit of tile work to be finished. The ovens have not yet arrived, along with a few pieces of hardware. Garage doors are supposed to arrive tomorrow and the A/C units will either be here tomorrow or Wednesday. The brickers are scheduled to come back by the end of the week to brick at the bottom of the driveway, around the grill, and at the base of the cedar columns that are coming for the porch.
David and Pa moved the treadmill to the attic yesterday. We thought it would be smart to get it up those stairs before the railing is installed. We had a very unpleasant "incident" with the driveway! When we stopped by Friday morning, we found some vandalism. Someone had carved their name in the wet concrete in 2 places. I felt sick at my stomach! Steve offered to have those 2 sections ripped up and repoured, however they would not match the rest of the concrete. They sent someone over to try to rub it out. Most of it came out, and if you don't know where it is....you probably won't be able to find it. But we know where it is and we will see it forever! (The vandals also wrote their name (Blake) along with another lovely B word in the flowerbed! Thank goodness that is only dirt. I would love to have a little chat with Blake someday. Maybe I will get the chance!)

Fixtures are here!

It is really starting to look like home! The dining room turned out great and we all love the pendant lights over the bar. Many of the can lights are done now. (The microwave also appeared today.) The lighting upstairs is almost finished (ceiling fans are in the game room, exercise room, both kids rooms, along with bathroom fixtures and closet lights). The lighting people just kept saying, "You sure do have a lot of lights!" Just wait til they get to the outside lights!!!
The granite guys came back out from MS today to cut the hole for the kitchen faucet. We also had them cut a hole in the desktop for the computer cords to drop below. They cut the hole, but a little too far to the left. So.....now we can drop the cord down, but it falls down into the cabinet and not into the open leg space where the outlet is. I think there will soon be a hole in the inside of that cabinet in the near future (or a new piece of granite if David has anything to say about it!).

This is the view from Lyndsey's bedroom window. Looks like a lot of concrete to me! Tanner is so excited. Every piece of concrete is a piece of grass that he will not have to mow. Concrete is coming tomorrow and the view will change again!

Big Changes

Things are really starting to come together. They worked all weekend. Driveways and porches are scheduled to be poured on Wednesday. They framed everything up today. We spent quite a while there this afternoon. We loved the layout, but were not sure about the huge flowerbed that we were left with across the front. We decided to make the flowerbed quite a bit smaller (especially since I am the "weed girl").
The painters have rolled on the first coat and will not come back to finish until right before we move in. We changed the color for the master bedroom and bath. The original color was just a little too nursery looking. We ended up going with a Sherwin Williams color called Moody Blue. It is much better!
The tile is all done except for closing in the jacuzzi tub in the master bath. That can't happen until after it is inspected. The granite folks are coming back out tomorrow to cut the hole in the island for the faucet and also in the desktop (for cords to drop below). We are still hoping that everything will be done while we are out on spring break. It is not likely, but we can still hope....can't we?

Master Bath

It's been a few days since my last post and lots is happening around the house. The tile is almost finished. It's been very slow going compared to everything else. I think all the tile is done, grout and all, except for the kitchen backsplash, a few accent tiles in the guest bath, and the rest of the floor in the master bath. Everything has turned out beautifully so far.

The vanity arrived yesterday for the guest bath. Once again, Mr. Marvin did a wonderful job. I was expecting it to look just like Tanner's, but it doesn't. It looks more like a furniture piece. I love it! Another surprise yesterday......there are some floor stain choices for the hardwoods. I forgot to take a photo of them. I'll do that tomorrow. One is definitely too light and the other 3 are very similar. We are leaning toward one called Chestnut.

Today's most exciting news........THE COUNTERTOPS ARE IN!!!!!! What a difference they make. Everything seemed to come to life once they were installed. It is really starting to feel like home.
